Walking  though Charing Cross, London yesterday Soroptimist Caroline my friend could not help but notice the enormous electronic bill board over #CouttsBank.   Today is International Women’s Day. Well done @Coutts, great to see businesses heralding the successes of women leaders in a world dominated in business by men on IWD. Soroptimists  enable the celebration of this day joining with partners around the world to celebrate the successes and achievements of women, the empowerment and enablement of the many organisations striving to educate girls, women and work returners. It’s a day when we can cherish special women in our life, our bestie, a neighbour, a lonely relative who you don’t call up enough, teachers who inspire and educate girls to aim high, paramedics and nurses who cherish our loved ones when they are ill, our girls, our daughters who are striving to redress the losses caused

2022 was a busy year for all foodbanks and their sterling work is essential community action enabling low income individuals and families to survive week to week and gain training access and practical advice and help. Weybridge & District Soroptimists donate every quarter filling gaps and supplying seasonal items. Our 21 #elmbridge members wholeheartedly support the wonderful volunteers  and so appreciate their hard work and dedication. We were delighted to meet the local manager when she spoke about their wider work at a meeting this year. Club members ‘walk and talk’ about their work and raise it whenever we run fundraisers for our other partners. It’s amazing how few people know how to donate so we spread the word, some ask SI to do so on their behalf giving us cash or items. Just this week we donated more cash from friends and during

Many people are struggling to make ends meet and relying on  #waltonhershamfoodbank for essentials. #ElmbridgeSoroptimists provide support to the foodbank @WaltonHershamfb raising funds at events and by donations. This funds ASDA vouchers, Easter eggs, suntan lotion and food items. This December we will supply Elf Hats filled with items for the Mums and women who seldom think of themselves.  If you would like to buy a elf hat for £1 from Poundland and fill it with non-alcoholic/non perishable new items suitable for women you can donate them to a local Soroptimist in Weybridge, Molesey or Kingswood before December 26th, we will sew them with a festive flourish and add any message you attach in readiness for delivery.
