We are very proud to be awarded the “Our Planet, Our Future” award by #soroptimistssoutheastengland.
The award is in recognition of our leadership of #plasticfreewhitstable, helping to reduce single use plastic in the town. Our project links with the UN sustainable development goals:
5: Gender Equality: the climate crisis especially affects women and girls who are more likely to be displaced from their homes.
6: Clean Water: water quality improves when pollution decreases. 12: Responsible Consumption & Production: environmentally sound waste management. 13: Climate Action: plastic is made from fossil fuels so extraction and creation emits huge amounts of greenhouse gas. 14: Life Below Water: reduce marine pollution. 17: Partnerships: with both political parties, the churches and #ct5forum.
