Soroptimist Day of Action – 12 July
In June we donated £120 to the Shifa Swimming for Women Project
On 12 July we supported the Shifa Fair at Trinity Methodist Church, Woking. The Fair raised funds for the Swimming for Women Project.
Woking Soroptimists aim to continue to help life-saving and life-changing projects for women
Cervical Cancer
There is a vaccine against human papillomavirus that protects against health problems later in life. in The World Health Organisation recommends 90% of people at risk should be vaccinated. Surrey is below the target.
The national federation, SIGBI, gives us this useful information:
In response to an inquiry from Woking Soroptimists, local MP Will Forster has written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care about the measures to be taken to improve the vaccine rate.
SI Southern England Regional Meetings
Salisbury Soroptimists organised an excellent Regional Meeting in June in Salisbury. The theme was ‘Women Inspiring Women’. SI Salisury’s research project on inspiring local women of the past was…inspiring!
We look forward to the next Regional Meeting in September. SI Woking will host and we look forward to gaining more insight and inspiration from our sister Soroptimists across the region.
