Bangor & District Soroptimists donate £500 to the Society’s Blind Walking Club

The North Wales Society of the Blind’s Walking Club is delighted after receiving a cash gift to help fund buses to transport partially sighted and blind members and their guide dogs together with guides on their monthly walks. Olga Evison from Soroptimists International Bangor & District visited our centre at 325, Stryd Fawr, Bangor last week with the donation.  The money is a fantastic contribution to the walking club and NWSB chief executive Steven Thomas said: “The Society is truly grateful for the continued support of SI Bangor & District and for all their generous donations towards our table top sales”.  This support helps to enable people with sight loss to live independently. The Soroptimists work at local, national and international level to educate, empower and enable opportunities for women and girls. The Bangor branch was established 76 years ago and organise and support activities/events for very many charities.  They meet once a month at Glanadda Community Centre, Bangor.  For further information on SI Bangor & District please contact vikkijwilliams@gmail.com

Clwb Cerdded Eryri walking club is open to anyone living with sight loss.  The club offers a chance for people to regain independence and walk different paths in the company of new friends.  They have great volunteers who can hold a conversation or offer a helping hand in guiding along the trails.
The walks take place on the third Wednesday of every month of the year and there is a bus to transport walkers and their guide dogs from our Bangor office to start the journey and back.
