Three members of Cirencester Soroptimists Club, Jill Lang and Lesley Gordon (pictured) together with Maggie Edney, attended ‘Stronger South Cotswolds’ on Saturday 6th June. This was a large gathering of charities from Cirencester and the surrounding area, organised by the South Cotswolds M.P. Roz Savage, to promote networking, contacts and support between these groups working mainly as volunteers to improve life in their neighbourhoods. We were able to add to our own list of community contacts, several of whom will be invited to our own Open Evening on 9th September.”

Roz Savage, South Cotswold MP said
More than one hundred local community champions gathered in Cirencester for the inaugural Stronger South Cotswolds event. These are people already giving time and energy to make life better for others, yet they willingly set aside an afternoon to share ideas and explore how we can work together to strengthen our communities.

They came from charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and local projects across both the Gloucestershire and Wiltshire parts of our constituency.
The atmosphere was one of optimism and determination. People spoke about tackling loneliness, supporting young people, restoring nature, and so much more. Above all, they spoke about connection – helping people and organisations find one another, share what works and build on each other’s successes.
That is the simple idea behind Stronger South Cotswolds. Across our towns and villages, there is already an enormous amount of good work happening. Too often, groups are working in isolation. By helping people join the dots, we can amplify what is already working and make our communities stronger and more resilient.
