Minnis Trust Grants

Minnis Trust Grants

in
Minnis Trust was established with a legacy from a late member of SI Cirencester and District Soroptimists . Some members of the club are trustees. We are gratified that we can support worthy causes. On July 5th our President Jill Lang was delighted to present two Grant cheques on behalf of the Minnis Trust. The first was to this year’s The Phoenix Festival, Cirencester to help fund the children’s Creative Zone. The second was to fund the kit for a new Severn Area Rescue Association volunteer. It was wonderful to welcome both Andrew and Lorna to our Members’ Meeting

It was a perfect way to spend a Summer's evening whilst also raising money to fund their upcoming conference on modern day slavery and human trafficking. South West Region Meeting

South West Region Meeting

in
Representatives from Cirencester and District Soroptimists recently attended a meeting of  Soroptimists International South West and Channel Islands Region. The region  comprises 16 Soroptimist Clubs which spread geographically from Gloucestershire in the north and Wiltshire in the east, down to Cornwall in the deepest south west and include Guernsey and Jersey in the Channel Islands. There are four meetings during the year, one per quarter.  They provide a wonderful opportunity to forge and sustain friendships among like-minded women who are passionate about uplifting women and girls.  Also for clubs to share their projects with each other, to learn and to come away inspired and motivated. Project Co-ordinator of Cirencester & District club Shirley Alexander gave a heads up of a seminar that the club is planning on Anti-Human Trafficking on 24th November.  Watch this space for details of what promises to be a high profile

President Jill Lang, Beverly Brooks, Shirley Alexander and Jackie Ormerod met on Wednesday 15th March to belatedly celebrate International Womens‘ Day after postponing an open air event the previous week due to snow. Local residents of Cirencester and surrounds were invited to join members for this event so that they could share about our club's activities.  Sadly the inclement weather on both dates kept people at home.
