We collect lots of different things to recycle.

Smalls for All

We collect new and gently used bras and new pants for Smalls for All.  This is a small Scottish based charity which donates bras and pants to those in need in Africa and the UK.  Having pants allows girls to go to school during their period and so not miss out on their education.  Giving a bra to a woman or girls gives them dignity and comfort.  Initially the charity only supplied organisations in Africa but is now seeing requests from the UK and is supporting school uniform banks and women’s refuges. A collection in June 2022 brought 30 bras and 12 packs of pants.

Used Glasses

We used to collect these for Vision Aid but they are no longer recycling glasses to the developing world.  The Lions Clubs are working with another charity to check and grade the glasses and there is now a growing network of drop off points.  We recently collected over 130 pairs of glasses which have been passed on through the local Lions Club.

Blister Packs

Like many clubs we are collecting blister pack from medications to be recycled by Terracycle.  The blister packs are dropped off at the local Superdrug store about every three months or so. Photos show the last two lots of donations.

Toiletries for SOHTIS

We have been supporting the work of the charity Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland  and recently donated make bags with a variety of make up to be passed on the the people being helped.  We have also donated toiletries which we were given by Fife Voluntary Action.

Donations for the local foodbank

This is a regular activity for us and members can bring items along to our meetings.
