Our speaker for June was Claire and her Medical Detection dog Pal. Pal supports Claire who suffers from Type 1 Diabetes by monitoring her blood sugar levels on scent alone, and has recently achieved his 15,000 detection hit during his time with Claire. Having him has made so much difference to Claire and her family’s lives which you could tell by the moving way she spoke about her life before she had Pal.
Claire also spoke about the charity Medical Detection Dogs work with regard to the dogs being able to detect cancer at early stages, which is amazing. Everyone found the talk really interesting and got a real understanding of the charity and its work. Our members and their guests had the opportunity to ask questions and to say hello to Pal who stole the show with his waggy tail.
The talk closed with members having the opportunity to support the charity by purchasing merchandise, and make donations. Many thanks to Claire and Pal for the time they spent with us
