Continuing Support for the Bra Collection Project

At SI Haverfordwest we are well known in Soroptimist circles for our Bra Collecting Project and this has continued at a pace over the past 12 months.

For the past few years, we have asked for people to donate their old bras for the Bravissimo Bra Recycle Scheme – old / new / worn / very worn / broken – it doesn’t matter! Every single last one is recycled and used.

They are then either sent to be reused in developing countries, giving girls the independence, dignity, and safety to attend school, or, those in poorer condition are broken down into their component parts and recycled; nothing is wasted. Additionally, for every kilo donated, Bravissimo make a donation to Women’s Aid.

We’ve collected another 2000 bras in recent weeks and posted them off to Bravissimo for them to work their magic.

The total sent to date (in 5 years) is 16,800!!!

In weight, that’s 1.7 TONNES of bras sent!

Thanks to all that support this project. members, friends & family, charity shops and other organisations, the difference we are all making is HUGE!!

AND ITS NOT JUST BRAS!! Bikinis, swim suits, basques and corsets all welcome too! (But NO knickers/pants please, even if they do go with the bra you’re donating). If you’re wondering how to get involved, it’s easy. Have a sort out and drop off your old bra (regardless of its condition, dyed with your jeans in the wash, strap/1 wire missing etc), we want them all!

Drop them off at County Sports, Window On Wales, Cotts Equine Hospital, Coronation Chippy or with any member.

If you’d like to be a drop off station, just let us know and we can arrange to drop a box and poster to you.
