Soroptimists support Nell Bank Easter Egg hunt for families from areas of deprivation

In glorious weather on one of the last days of the Easter school holiday, a group of Ilkley Soroptimists joined staff and other volunteers to give low income families from Bradford a fun day out. The event was Government funded through the Holiday Activities & Food Programme providing holiday activities for eligible children to benefit their health, wellbeing and learning. Transport to the event and lunch were provided from the funeral.  The Soroptimists funded chocolate eggs for children completing the Egg Hunt. Here Chris Buxton (Soroptimist) and Kenny Olajide (Skipton Building Society) are explaining to an earnest young egg searcher how to record her sightings.

Jenny, a Soroptimist who had left her home in Airton at 6 30 am to help enjoyed being part of  “ a joyful and memorable experience despite the early start”.

After the 400 plus visitors had departed for home Dan Goodey (CEO of the Nell Bank Charitable Trust)  thanked the volunteers and staff.  “We simply couldnt run these events without the help of the amazing volunteers!  Our team today have brought smiles to the faces of all of our visitors, and they couldn’t have been more enthusiastic and engaging.  I am enormously grateful for the support!”
