Minutes of business meeting on Thursday May 14th 2026
1 Vision and Mission was read by Angela
2 Apologies Margaret,Jo,Julia,Pauline,Julie,Anne,Sue,Marilyn.
3 Minutes of club meeting on 9thApril. Brenda queried the implementation of paper minutes and it was agreed that they would be stored in a file purchased by Libby. Janet then signed the 9th April copy.
4 Secretary’s business. A resolution for Conference that the capitation grant to the Diamond Education grant should be raised from 50p to £1 was passed unanimously.A day at Sowerby Hall on August1st organised by Regional President is £47. Charter lunches will be held at Hallamshire 4th October and Harrogate17thOctober. A new SIGBI website starts on 24th June. SIGBI shop has recruitment leaflets for new members on sale for £4.75 for 50 and it was agreed to purchase a trial pack.
5 Treasurers business. Two resignations June and Jenny G.so we now have 22 members.Cards will be purchased and sent by Loraine thanking them for their service. £50 to be paid to the auditor. £50 banked from the penny pot. It was felt that a discussion should be held on ways of using or distributing funds from the charity account.Janet will ask HillaryDavis if she has a charity. Gill will invite Amanda Symonds to speaker meetings.
6. Gill reported that the Charter Lunch at Ilkley golf club was very good and enjoyed by all.It is proposed to hold next years on Sunday 14th March.
7. a.Carnival feedback suggested it was one of the best ever with large crowds both at the parade and show ground.Rachel suggested there should be more publicity for charities benefiting from the entrance fee.
b.World environment day. Libby suggested volunteers could join a community litter pick at the bandstand on Sunday 31st May from 11-12pm.
c.Janet and Libby had attended TWP this morning. Libby suggested we might support SI Yorkshire in a Lend to Care scheme providing£15 to help give women abroad a business start.
d. There were many suggestions for IWD and 16days of Activism.Rachel suggested Bring and Buy,bake off,beetle drive,buy a brick,car boot sale etc. A yogathon for IWD 8th March2027 will be on the agenda for the next business meeting.Rachel will speak to Sarah Almond Brookfield of IlkleyBid regarding 16days of Activism. Sisterly suppers were also suggested.8. Social media was deferred to the next business meeting.
9. Janet M. Will attend the new presidents lunch on Saturday May30 th.
10. RCM Please what’s app Sue ASP if you wish to attend.
11. Community Network.Joy attended the meeting and reported on several suggested initiatives for community development. Details available separately.
12. Care and Concern. Angela thanked Marilyn for looking out for her.Jenny G.is doing well after her knee surgery.
13. AOB Rachel to revamp boards. Jennys super lunch at Daisy Mount has raised approaching £300.
14. There were several positive comments celebrating womanhood before the close of the meeting at 8.45 pm.
