The Soroptimist International Jersey Inspirational Woman of the Year Award 2026 was presented to Barbara Corbett by SIJ President Debbie Taylor. Barbara was nominated for her work as a family lawyer who has helped drive some of the Island’s most significant family law reforms. The award caps more than a decade of efforts to modernise area of Jersey law. She was also recognised for the free legal support she provides to families who cannot afford represenation.
24 nominations were received this year, which is a new record. This award was established by SIJ in 1999 to champion the many women in our Island who give so much to others.
Congratulations to finalists Danielle Mynes (left) and Magda Chmielewska (right). Danielle was nominated for her work as a teacher and ongoing efforts with girls to end gender-based violence. Magda, who is the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Poland in the Island was nominated for her work supporting the Polish community.
