Sorting clothes for Afghan Refugees

President Annette sorts the ladies clothes

When Afghan refugees were rescued from their homeland a number of them came to Fife and were accommodated in a local hotel. Fifers were keen to help and Fife Voluntary Action (FVA) coordinated donations, requesting clothes for men, women and children as well as bedding, and toys and equipment for babies and children. Luckily FVA had access to a large open-plan office building as they were inundated with donations from churches and community groups and individuals from all over Fife.

FVA put out a call for help to sort out the donations and two members of the club spent weeks helping to hang items in size order or pack them on shelves, or boxes for re-stocking, cleaning and displaying toys, books and equipment. Every few days a family would come in to choose whatever they needed for their new life.
