                  Maureen on the Big Stroll

On Sunday 24 April Kirkcaldy Soroptimist Maureen Collison took part in the Big Stroll from Clydebank to Balloch (14.4 miles), part of the Glasgow Kiltwalk, with her friend Jenifer McFarlane, a Paisley Soroptimist and a Mary’s Meals Volunteer. They both raised money for Mary’s Meals which serves nutritious school meals to children living in some of the world’s poorest countries.

The promise of a good meal attracts these hungry children into the classroom, giving them the energy to learn, and hope for a better future. It costs £15.90 for Mary’s Meals to feed a child for a whole school year. Maureen and Jenifer between them raised £1,095 and thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and the Hunter Foundation this will be increased by 50%. This means Mary’s Meals will receive £1,642.50 which will feed over 100 children for a whole school year.

Our thanks to all our Soroptimist and other friends and family for all your donations. We appreciate there are a lot of demands on everyone’s finances just now and we are absolutely thrilled with the amount which will go to Mary’s Meals. Fundraising closes on 4 May.
