Once again Covid stopped members traveling to the 2021 annual conference which was due to be held in Belfast. During the year the conference committee had assessed the risk of a face-to-face meeting and taken the difficult decision to hold a virtual conference. To try and recreate some of the comradery of a normal gathering several members met to watch the conference together. While not recreating the complete conference experience it was still an opportunity to enjoy the company of other and discuss the presentation.

Our 2021 Friendship Evening was a great success even though the musician was unable to attend due to testing positive for Covid. The highlight of the evening was the welcoming into the Club of Sandra Towers. The photo includes Kath who introduced Sandra to the club, our President Val,  and Hilary our Membership Officer.

The summer outing took place on a warm and showery overcast day but that did not stop the enjoyment. Despite the country still being in the grip of the Covid pandemic there was a great turn out for the event.   A canal boat ride starting near Barton and wending it way through the bucolic scenery. The decorations were lavish. The roof of the boat decorated with balloons and ball in SI colours. Each table had a beautiful floral arrangement in a dainty China cup. But best of all were number shaped balloons to celebrate the SI centenary. Well done and many thanks to Janette for organising the event and arranging for the decorations.
