Here she observed the practice of FGM as part of a rite of passage for young girls. Since then she has been working with a handful of others to provide alternative rites of passage for the young women and girls of Northern Kenya. To support her SI Lancaster and Grange provide bracelets which are given to the girls as part of an alternative ceremony. Cath presented a slide show f of the work Beyond FGM has been doing in Kenya. A Walk through Fairfield Several members took some time out to walk the circular route through the Fairfield area. Starting in the Millennium Green and Community Orchard which was created and in 2012/13. The walk continued through established nature reserves on farmland nearby as well as a brief walk along the towpath of the Lancaster Canal. It was inspiring to see what can be achieved when communities come together.  If you would like to know more about the work of the Fairfield Association visit: http://www.fairfieldassociation.org/  If you would like to know more about the Lancaster Soroptimists visit:https://sigbi.org/lancaster/
