Social and Fund raising
SI Leicester have a very active Social and Fund Raising group who set the programme for the year and all members get involved. One of our recent fundraising events was a cakes stall to support local Leicestershire charity Rainbows
Meru Garden Project
Our International Project was launched on International Women’s Day, 8th March 2016, The Meru Women’s Garden Project, Kenya. In September 2017 members held a fundraising Sunday Lunch to support the project.
In April 2018, SI Leicester members Helen Everett and Jacqui Purnell with 23 members from other SI clubs in the UK, visited Kenya to see how the Meru women are using the funds to improve the lives of women and girls in their community.
Each year club members choose a local charity to support. As well as fundraising, members also offer their services and expertise where appropriate. In addition to the above, SI Leicester are also supporting the work of ADHD Solutions and Women’s Aid Leicestershire Limited (WALL) and have supplied Maplewell Hall School for children with moderate learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorder with a range of fun, interesting and educational books for their ‘read at home’ scheme.
