At our November meeting, as part of our commitment to the 16 Days of Action, our speakers were Pat Jackson and Sarah Cornell talking about SATEDA’s Youth Work in Swale.
We heard about how they work with young women and young people at risk of domestic abuse, providing 1:1 support in a safe place. The programmes that they run are: –
- Healing Together Programme – for young people aged 7 – 16 focusing on understanding the body and brain, senses and feeling.
- Choose Liberty service – for young women aged 13 – 16 years, who are experiencing domestic abuse or at risk of being in an abusive relationship.
- You Matter Programme – for young people aged 7 – 16 years, building confidence.
Members had been asked to bring along to the meeting any unwanted good quality second-hand warm clothes for Sharewear. This is another service offered by SATEDA. They provide clothes free-of-charge to women and children in economic difficulty. The ‘It’s a Wrap’ campaign is providing warm winter clothing.
Annette Davies delivered the clothes to the Sharewear office. The clothes weighed 32.5kg and were well received by Valerie Williams. Annette spent two and a half hours helping to sort through the clothes.
