Maya Bangar and Wanda Wright had done a great job putting our Medway and Maidstone Soroptimist display up for the International Women’s Day (IWD) event at Victory Academy in Chatham on 14 March. It had a prime position so could easily be seen on arrival.
The event had been organised by Medway Diversity Forum and Medway Public Health. The theme was ‘Give to Gain’. It was a well organised event with a range of speakers on various women’s health issues plus some lively entertainment.
Jane Barnes joined them later from Regional meeting and they each handed out membership cards with contact details to a number of people. Also handed over a supply of the ‘Love me…Love me not’ cards to Oasis Domestic Abuse service and spoke with a Medway Voluntary Action (MVA) rep who had been commissioned by Public Health to raise awareness of various cancer conditions including cervical screening. A good networking afternoon celebrating women.
