Programme Reports

The club has been involved in a number of projects including working with local women’s charities and in relation to the planet our project of Recycle and Reuse.

Recycle and Reuse was developed to work for the benefit of our planet  included collecting crisp packets, empty blister packs, soft plastics, plastic bottle tops and coffee machine pods to prevent them being put into rubbish and being incinerated. We have also been involved in letter picks and helping tidy a local churchyard in this area.

Working with Motherwell has included donating prom dresses, bras, clothes for refugees and toiletries and sanitary products to improve the lives of local women and girls.

We have donated crockery and crocheted scarves to Cheshire Without Abuse and often respond to requests for specific items for each of the charities.

We have supported Northwich Community Support, a local charity set up to eliminate food waste and have donated both selection boxes at Christmas and Easter Eggs at Easter to ensure local children do not miss out  due to financial constraints.

Our newest project is lending money to women to help in their businesses through Microfinancing – small amounts certainly make a difference.

We have supported various charities with monetary donations including the International Presidents Appeal, The FoodBank, Riding for Disabled, St Luke’s Hospice and the Salvation Army.

We are always looking for areas in which we can help, let us know if you have any ideas.

The 70th Anniversary Year ended well with the Foodbank collecting the final 7 boxes of food, so we achieved the aim of donating 70 boxes to celebrate our 70th Anniversary and we also reached the aim of creating 70 Twiddlemuffs to  be sent toKnit for Peace.

Some of our members came together, appropriately socially distanced, for an afternoon tea to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day with neighbours in Norley and Cuddington, and in Hartford and Weaverham. Louise, unsurprisingly, dressed up and the picture was in the Northwich Guardian.

A request was sent from Motherwell, our President’s charity from last year for knitted hearts and flowers to put into bags they are giving to women to support them.

In addition there was a request for sanitary products and toiletries for girls who are without these because they are not at school, and products were provided to support them.
