Soroptimists undertake service projects locally, nationally and internationally.
It is the reason why many of us are members and it is the linchpin of our organisation and what makes us different from other organisations. We act locally but think globally. Through awareness, advocacy and action, Soroptimists work in the following areas:
In Preston :

We have a member who represents the North West Region on the Domestic Violence Forum run by Lancashire Constabulary and individual members are representatives of the Club on organisations such as Save the Children, Life Education, Water for Kids, Partners in Education Swaziland.
We are a member of PAN LANCASHIRE ANTI SLAVERY PARTNERSHIP and support as many MDS events as we can.

We provide giftbags for the homeless at Christmas , and toiletries for the SAFE centre in Preston – and pennies for pads for Days for Girls.

We have filled ‘preloved’ handbags with toiletries and other ‘girly’ items to send to women refugees who are now living in Turkey or Greece.

We have lobbied local MPs and County Councillors over funding for Domestic Violence refuges, Landmines and Human Trafficking
We hold fundraising events

and
we support regional events and charities
