English Communication Skill Development at ULCTS

The whole exercise on ‘Communication skills in English’ is a new experience for the kids, especially the ones from the tribal belt.

Initially, they showed shyness and anxiety, but very soon, that was overcome with joy and excitement when they started communicating in English. It was a major confidence booster for them. The teachers ‘ manual that I have created for them has a step by step approach towards gaining fluency where the initial chapters are about asking questions to each other. The children were very excited about gathering information for the answers and even asked for more time to delve deeper.

The interactive sessions turned out very interesting for both students and teachers as they shared experiences. In the process, the teachers introduced grammatical concepts of verbs to the children, as designed in the lessons, and the teachers also enjoyed teaching these as it was different for them as well.

Overall, the program has been well received both by the teachers and the students as it’s very different from their regular syllabus and also encourages teachers to come up with creativity in teaching, which can be utilized in other subjects too.
