SI Poona celebrated ‘World Literacy Day’ on Friday, 12th September, at Jagruti Seva Sanstha, a Pune-based NGO that works for educating and skilling women and youth for a brighter future. It’s run by Jayashree Kale, a fellow member of SI Poona.
Members of SI Poona gathered at the centre and distributed cheques to 20 young girls as scholarships for their college education. These bright young minds are from the neighboring slum area and are pursuing courses like Physiotherapy, Hotel Management, Chartered Accountancy, Paramedics, or are aspiring to clear the NEET exam to study medicine.
SI Poona has been doing this project for the past 25 years, and it’s continuing very successfully.
