Inspiring visit from Ukranian doctor

Earlier in the year our club members collected large quantities of supplies of items that could be useful in Ukraine which were packed into a refurbished ambulance and sent on their way.  It was therefore a delight to welcome the charming Tamara to an English tea party when she visited in August.  Tamara is living in an area near to the Russian border where the drones fly overhead at all hours of the night and day.  Tamara had retired as a pediatrician when the invasion took place but has returned to her professional duties – she proudly told us that she has delivered over 300 babies this year.  Although she speaks very little English there was plenty of conversation thanks to Google Translate and it was very humbling to hear first hand the horrors of the situation.  She enjoyed visiting us and felt cheered to know that the trials of Ukraine are not forgotten by the outside world.
