Our club meeting in early September was on Zoom, but we hope to return to in-person meetings next month. We were pleased to welcome Rosemary’s great-nephew Asher at one point too!
We were all interested to hear about Women4Women in Lee, from our speaker Lauren. They have their own website as part of St Faith’s church in Lee-on-the-Solent: https://www.stfaithslee.org/women4women/
The group runs a monthly inter-generational coffee morning as part of their vision ‘to bring together women of all ages and stages of life in Lee-on-the-Solent, growing community and combating loneliness, supporting each other and reaching out to those in need’. These have been on themes, such as technical advice and exercise, but are evolving to meet the local needs. The next one is on Wednesday 15th September, 10–11.30am, at St Faith’s Parish Centre, for an informal gathering with coffee & cake provided.
When we asked what we could do collaboratively, a number of ideas emerged: befriending of the isolated, either in person or via the phone, including playing games and doing crosswords; walks round Lee, ending in a local café; book club meetings; pub quizzes on Zoom; all sorts of possibilities!
