As a club we don’t meet in August, but there is still plenty going on. One member of the club hosts a barbecue at her home, which this year was enjoyed by 24 guests. They raised a total of £410 for our charities.
Then we play hostess to 2 local groups from Re-Engage, formerly Contact the Elderly, at the Wheelhouse in Hill Head. A team of 8 (Alison, Rosemary B and Tracy in aprons, and Margaret, Carolyne, Pam, Pauline and Christine) worked hard to lay up tables with a delicious tea and serve the assembled company of about 20, including drivers. The day was gloriously hot, which unfortunately meant the coastal car parks were full to overflowing, but everyone got there in the end. There was even enough for a going-home-plate, as a “doggy-bag”, and a chance to sit outside in the sunshine afterwards.
