Welcome to SI South Shields and District
Soroptimist International of South Shields & District was chartered in 1947.
The club is small but vibrant, with relaxed and interesting meetings.
We have 16 members with diverse backgrounds in catering, nursing, finance, teaching, voluntary sector.
Because of the small numbers the club has a strong friendship bond and members are never without support no matter what their needs may be.
We enjoy a lot of social events together, sometimes in support of a charity, sometimes just for fun.
We meet the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month at South Shields Golf Club.
The first Tuesday of the month we enjoy an informal supper, followed by a business meeting. The second meeting of the month we have a speaker.
Talks are very varied, and can be linked to our programme action projects or anything that may interest our members.
Last year speakers included Mother Rebecca Tobin, Norman Kirtlan Forensic Artist, Bernard Hope with the Christmas Story, It really is a wonderful life. We also had a speaker from STMBC talking about the regeneration of South Shields town centre.
