Every Friday, since 2021, Tamworth Soroptimists give service to the ‘Befriending Phoneline’. During the Covid restrictions a phoneline was set up by Tamworth Community Together to help people, mainly to answer queries about food banks. As people returned to work this service was on the verge of closing, but the service had also identified many lonely and vulnerable people in our town. Tamworth Soroptimists came to the rescue. Initial training was given and we now call weekly 50-60 residents in need.
