Soroptimist International - The Wrekin

Soroptimist International of The Wrekin is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

President Linda Devey

I am proud to say I have just taken on the role of President for Soroptimist International The Wrekin. I am married with 2 children and now 6 grandchildren all of whom keep me busy. I joined SI The Wrekin 6 years ago. I had just retired from Education but still felt I had more to do and attending an International Women’s day at a friend’s house gave me the impetus I needed to seek out SI The Wrekin. During my 6 years I have held the posts of Treasurer, President – yes I have been President before! And more recently Programme Action Officer. Programme Action is very much at the heart of our club and we did not let Lockdown stop our activities. We have developed skills and expertise that we didn’t know we had and The Wrekin Club has risen to the challenge to support each other during this difficult time.

Everyone in our club brings knowledge, expertise and or plain common sense to the table. Some are creative, others are good at starting things and others at finishing, some are ‘thinkers’ some ‘doers’. This recipe makes a fantastic Team of which I am proud to be part of and I am confident this year we will continue making a difference to the lives of women and girls both at home and abroad.

‘Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.’ (Helen Keller)

So if you would like to make a difference please come and join us.
