SUPPORTING COMMUNITY RADIO IN WARRINGTON

Radio Warrington (http://radiowarrington.co.uk) is a volunteer-run Community Radio station based in Warrington Market.  It was set up in 2007 to offer local people, including disadvantaged or disabled individuals, an opportunity to get involved with a 24-hour radio station and learn associated broadcasting skills.  As a not-for-profit organisation, it relies for its funding on monthly subscriptions and support from local community-minded businesses.

Following SI Warrington’s appearance on the Culture Show in November 2018, the Club decided to help the station in its fantastic work and has donated two new microphones and a set of headphones – much needed equipment to replace failing kit.  Said Andy Green, who anchors the Culture Show together with his co-presenter Brian Spooner:

“Radio Warrington is committed to promoting all that is good about the town. We care about our community and as well as broadcasting local discussion programmes and traffic news, we carry out initiatives such as donating radios to care homes to allow people living with dementia to listen to our broadcasts and to help combat social isolation.  To continue broadcasting and supporting the community we are always on the look out for extra funding. We’ve been very lucky over the years to have received support from the likes of Talk Talk Business and United Utilities but finding funding is becoming increasingly difficult. We were therefore delighted to receive the headphones and microphones from SI Warrington as they will help us to continue broadcasting.”

You can listen to Radio Warrington on 1332AM, online, on App or on Smart Speaker.
