August Speaker Meeting: The Brick Homeless Centre

August Speaker Meeting: The Brick Homeless Centre

in

For many years SI Wigan members have supported the Brick Homeless Centre in Wigan with food for the food bank, sleeping bags in winter and shoebox presents at Xmas. At the August Speaker meeting and meal held at Haigh Hall Trish Green the manager of the Brick told members about the centre. She explained about it’s development from initially a Christmas meal for the homeless, to services delivered in old buldings that they renovated over the years. Today there is a newly deveoped, purpose built centre with support staff, training facilities, showers and a food bank. Support is given daily to help people living on the streets, or who need support in many ways to manage budgets, housing and medical care. There has also been developed a warehouse and workshop where furniture can be recycled and renovated to support the homeless and those being resettled
