Soroptimist International - Bristol

Soroptimist International of Bristol is part of a worldwide organisation of women, which is linked to the United Nations.

Welcome to SI Bristol from President Sue

Soroptimist International (SI) is a global organisation of women, from a wide variety of backgrounds, whose aim is to make a difference, especially to the lives of women and girls, throughout the world through Education, Empowerment and Enablement.   Members of SI Bristol are active in the local community both individually and collectively.

The global SI organisation (celebrating its centenary this year) has consultative status with the United Nations.   Please look at the Programme Action section of our website to find out more about the wide variety of activities undertaken locally and nationally.

Sadly, because of COVID, plans to celebrate our Centenary had to be cancelled in 2020 but that hasn’t deterred us from new ways of working together using Zoom.

In recognition of our achievements over the past year, SI Bristol has just, as one of  7 organisations, been awarded The Lord Mayor of Bristol’s Medal – the first year the medal has been presented to organisations.

What are we going to do this year?    Our charity is St Peter’s Hospice which, like many charities, has suffered great loss of income this year.   As a service Club we are hoping not only to fundraise for them but provide help with some of their activities, along with continuing support to local charities.

But it’s not all hard work; we also arrange outings and entertaining events and endeavor to have fun along the way.

Interested?   Why not contact us (see details below) and come to a meeting where you’ll be warmly welcomed.  We meet on the 2nd or 4th Monday evening of each month.
