SI Bristol is a lively friendly service club of around 40 members. We are women from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, with a mixture of professional and other skills – but all with one aim in common: To make a difference in the lives of women and girls throughout the world. Our mantra is Educate, Empower and Enable.
As well as contributing to international projects, members of SI Bristol are active in the local community, both individually and collectively as a club. Our Club’s theme for 2018-19 is “Moving Forward Together”. You can read about what some of this action involves on our website’s Programme Action page.
Over the past year our projects have included:
• Supporting Unseen, a Bristol based charity, that supports the victims of Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking. Support through fundraising and donating bedding and other domestic items for victims moving into permanent accommodation.
• Being part of a nationwide survey on public awareness of Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking by canvassing a cross section of the public in the Foyer of Southmead Hospital.
• Supporting ongoing overseas projects such as Mary’s Meals breakfast and backpack projects
• Supporting ongoing local projects such as The Bridge Sexual Assault and Referral Centre.
Do find out more through our Programme Action page. All our Programme Action work contributes to the fact that at an international level, Soroptimists International have a voice at the United Nations concerning women and women related issues.
Does this interest you in becoming a Soroptimist? If so, jump into action and come to one of our meetings.
Members of SI Bristol are always happy to welcome new members. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Please contact us if you would like to find out more.
