A number of club members have been participating in the Schoolreaders project, whose aim is to improve childhood literacy by providing volunteers to give one-to-one reading practice to children in primary schools.
Volunteers are matched up with primary schools in their local area and visit the school on a weekly basis to work with a child as they read from material provided by the school. Our members have enjoyed getting to know the children equally as much as helping them with their reading. The project is currently paused but they are looking forward to getting back into schools as soon as they are able.
