Members and friends enjoyed a Thai themed lunch at The George Inn, Girton on Sunday 13 September. Proceeds from the lunch and a hotly contested raffle raised funds for The Purple Teardrop Campaign, their focus is the infringement of human rights suffered by the victim of people trafficking.
In support of their aims, SI Cambridge has been displaying posters in public places and providing local taxis with stickers to raise awareness among the general public of the plight of women and children who are trafficked and to promote the Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111, so that members of the public can give confidential information on locations where they think trafficked women are being exploited.
The event raised £322 for the campaign and it is hoped that further posters and stickers can be provided to enable more women to be helped.
