Joint dinner meeting between Soroptimists, Rotary and Inner Wheel in Cirencester

A joint dinner meeting between the three service clubs took place at “Roots and Seeds” on Wednesday 14th May.

The Great Western Air  Ambulance charity spoke about their work and a cheque from  The Minnis Trust, the charity of Soroptimist International of Cirencester & District, was presented to Andrew Harper from GWAA  at the event

For the first time since Covid, Cirencester Soroptimists recently hosted a joint event with the Cirencester Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs in aid of the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).

The venue was Roots & Seeds, at the Old Kennels, which opened specially for the event and offered a selection of freshly prepared great food.

A volunteer told us about the work of this incredible charity, whilst an experienced paramedic currently serving with the organisation used a real incident to demonstrate the multiple complexities involved in saving lives in an emergency situation. He explained why GWAAC attended this accident, and walked us through the tasks undertaken by each member of the team as it worked to ensure a positive outcome for the victim.

Much of the organisation of the event was done by Barbara Banks. Jill Lang, who chaired the joint meeting, presented a cheque for £500 from the Minnis Trust administered by the Soroptimists. In addition a raffle during the evening raised more than £250, vital funding for this critically important charity.
