Saturday 1st October – Relay Sponsored Walk long the Durham Heritage Coastal Path between Seaham and Crimdon Dene.

We have raised nearly £700 for our chosen charity Team Kenya.

Seven Members of Soroptimist International Durham (SID) set off from Seaham Hall Beach Car Park on Saturday 1st October to walk some or all of the 11 miles of the Durham Heritage Coastal Footpath from Seaham to Crimdon to raise money for Team Kenya.  We were joined at the start by Jacky Quincey, a former Trustee and now adviser for Twende Pampja’s Education Programme Area.

Team Kenya’s vision and mission is very closely aligned with our Soroptimist vision and mission statements, that of educating girls, empowering women and transforming communities, so with that and the fact that the founder and other trustees are based in the North East, it made sense to Sue and Geraldine, Joint Presidents, this was a charity to support during their Presidential year.

We set off in glorious weather passing some stunning scenery and being constantly reminded visually aided by information boards, of the area’s mining heritage, the historic development of the railway and the power and beauty of nature.
