There has never been a better time to join, as Soroptimists in Conference voted both to offer Associate Membership as a new Membership Option from April 2016, and to reduce fees for all Members.
Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland will be putting out much more information on how to become an Associate Member and the benefits of doing so in the lead up to the option being available. Clubs of course would welcome new Club Members, but recognise that the busy lifestyles that young women lead today may not always make it possible for them to attend Club Meetings and Club Events, so Associate Membership would be a better option for them.
The Representative from WaterAid who has taken out a stand at Conference praised Soroptimists for their “drive and energy in getting things done” and said that she would love to become an Associate Member. As so many Clubs support WaterAid and have a relationship with them, it would be a way of supporting Soroptimist International without being affiliated to any one Club.
Fees for all Members have also been reduced – Countries that fall into Bands 1, 2 and 3 will have their fees from April 2016 reduced by 60% and those in Band 4 will see a reduction of 10%.
Well done Soroptimists for both of these excellent decisions, and we look forward to reporting on the results of these over the next couple of years.
