Stay Active at Home during Coronavirus

Stay Active at Home during Coronavirus

in

One of our members, Pamela Goff has been involved in the production of a new booklet to help people exercise at home during the coronavirus outbreak. The booklet has been produced by the National Centre for Sport and Exercise medicine and Sheffield Hallam University. Pamela was initially asked to review a draft of the booklet and then subsequently to make a recording of herself doing the exercises. The recording was used  on Radio Sheffield’s Breakfast programme this week and Pamela was interviewed by Toby Foster about her involvement. The booklet is available to download at www.movemoresheffield.com

Today we held our normal monthly social meeting. We held a beetle drive but with a difference! Eleven members joined us on Zoom. We had fun and kept in touch. We hope more members will have mastered the technology next month and will be able to join us.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we were unable to meet in person for our AGM, so we held our meeting by Zoom. Despite the unfamiliarity of the technology, two thirds of our members managed to join the meeting. One of our members took this photo of her screen during the meeting. Outgoing President Sue handed over the President’s chain to incoming President Sandra virtually. We hope it will not be too long before we can meet in person.

Cheque Handover President Sue Smith presented Sue Coggins from the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind with a cheque for £2361 when we visited their headquarters recently. SRSB was our President’s charity in 2018. After the presentation we were told about the work of SRSB and shown around their premises. We then had a cookery skills demonstration and a light supper featuring the dishes which had been prepared by the chef at SRSB. What a wonderful evening!

The photograph shows the fruit of their labours with the bags & boxes ready for delivery.
