Soroptimist International was founded in 1921, when eighty women formed the first Soroptimist club in Oakland, California. Since then, membership has grown to over 90,000 women across the world. This makes us the world’s largest classified service organisation for women.
Soroptimists inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of members and international partnerships. Each Soroptimist International club is based in a geographical area, such as a town or city. Club members meet locally on a regular basis.
S.I. Hamilton was chartered in 1949. We undertake local, national and international projects to benefit women and girls. Our Club consists of Professional and Business Women who uphold the Aims and Objects of Soroptimist International which is the largest Womens Service Organisation in the World covering 120 Countries.
Perhaps you feel that your circle of friends is too insular and you would like to meet women from different walks of life. Or maybe you find that, although you enjoy your job, it demands so much of your energy that you are becoming very single-tracked. You might feel that society is becoming increasingly selfish, but you are powerless to help others meaningfully. You would like to put something back into your community, but are unsure where to start. Why not come along to one of our meetings and enjoy the warmth and friendship of women, working together in your area.
Why not join us?
Our Club meetings are flexible, some are face to face and we enjoy a two course meal with coffee in the Avonbridge Hotel, Hamilton at 6pm, other meetings are by Zoom.
If you feel you would be interested in helping your community or broadening your circle of friends email us at hamiltonsoroptimists@gmail.com, and we will be pleased to welcome you to one of our social meetings.
