Ilkley Soroptimists were asked `why orange?’ whilst they were decorating The Grove in Ilkley in November 2021. Orange symbolises a brighter future, free from violence. It is used as the colour of the UN International day of the Elimination of violence against Women on 25 November each year. As a show of solidarity, the UNESCO globe is also illuminated in orange.
This year emphasis is given to the threat to girls and women on line regardless of age, background or gender. Here a club member adjusts our orange decorations.
