What knitting has been done to meet President Ruth’s 90 Challenge

Soroptimist members were set a challenge this year by President Ruth Healey to take action with a ‘90’ theme to mark SIGBI’s 90th year. It has been left to members across the Federation to think of creative ways as to how and what they will do to meet the challenge.

Jane Barnes decided she would pick up the challenge and would knit 90 items for charity. She started the task in December and has continued knitting for more than 500 hours throughout the long winter evenings. This has resulted in her knitting 25 snoods, 15 beanie hats,15 pairs of gloves, 29 tissue purses, 4 baby comforters and 2 lap blankets.

All of the 90 knitted items are suitable for women, girls, and babies. They will go in the shoeboxes we make up later this year for the Blythswood Care Christmas Shoebox Appeal and be sent to Ukraine.
