SI Middlesbrough members have expressed deep concern about pregnant women being imprisoned, some without proper health care. Many are the victims of abuse already. They deserve care and rehabilitation.

We had a lovely, informal meeting yesterday, with a light supper. Our speaker Hamida had so much to tell us about Afghanistan and how, historically, it has got into the present situation. Very informative.

We are marking International Day of Peace today with an informal talk from a local woman originally from Afghanistan. She will tell us about her country and the plight of those from Afghanistan who are currently refugees.

Middlesbrough Soroptimists are collecting clothing and other essentials for refugees living locally.

Middlesbrough Soroptimists have raised £100 for SIGBI’s Diamond Education Grant through a very pleasant book auction and supper evening.
