We are pleased to support the Darlington & Stockton Times who are running a series on outstanding women from our area. We have suggested several women for their work on FGM, support to asylum seekers and refugees and other issues. Most recently, Jenny Medhurst was featured. She has devoted much of her life to the Fair Trade movement, enabling workers in other countries to get a fair price for their labour and produce.
To mark Refugee Week we had an excellent and informative talk yesterday on The Journey to Asylum from Pete Widlinski. Some local refugees joined us for a very enjoyable evening with cake.
