News from Friends of Sick Children in Malawi!
President Elaine is delighted to pass on this message of thanks from Gordon Cowie Chair of Trustees for our recent donation of £695:-
“Your donation has been assigned to the paediatric oncology unit, which continues to make positive strides. This is despite the limitations of operating in a resource-constrained healthcare environment and an unsophisticated patient environment. There are many issues that we in the UK would simply take for granted when children with cancer are being treated. However, these are much more problematic in Malawi. For example, completing courses of treatment such as chemotherapy and essential follow-up with patients can prove difficult, if not impossible. This is due partly to the understanding of parents and guardians and also the financial and other difficulties in travelling to and from the hospital when required.
