Club Focus: It’s What You DO That Counts!

Club Focus is a new feature on our website which is designed to help Clubs learn from each other and find informal opportunities to collaborate if they wish. Our very first Club Focus turns the spotlight onto SI Cannock & District – who’ve not only been welcoming new members, but have been putting the emphasis very firmly on friendship, fun and good mental health.

SI Cannock DinnerSI Cannock’s theme is “It’s what you DO that counts” so over to President Jackie to tell us more…

SI Cannock & District is delighted to have welcomed three new members in the past month! Lynn, Elena and Marion have all been drawn to the club by the Soroptimist ethos as they were all looking for a way to make a difference in their communities and beyond, particularly for women and girls.

They all believe they have found this, but what they have also found is a warm vibrant group of women who have welcomed them to the club and relevant and successful projects that they have all immediately become a part of! There is a really good feeling about the club with everyone supporting each other.

One of the objectives of my Presidency was to focus on the mental health of our members. The pandemic had meant that many of the support networks we had come to rely on were not available so, in conjunction with a local charity Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, we introduced monthly wellbeing events. These have included walks on Cannock Chase, gardening, a gym session, yoga, Christmas craft making and our latest event, a singalong! They have proved very successful and have fostered a great bond between members and above all – they’ve been great fun!

As Region President Judith, who was present at the induction of Elena and Marion commented, SI Cannock is lucky to welcome such enthusiastic women to the club, and they are lucky to be joining such a fabulous group of women!

In friendship
