Club Programme Action Work

Bilston & District

  • 80 Acts of Kindness to celebrate our 80th Charter Anniversary
  • Providing support for vulnerable women & their families: Changing Lives & Di’s Kitchen
  • Empowering children with special needs – provision of a mud kitchen & personalised fiddle quilts
  • Educating and empowering a student in Panama to complete her studies as a medical professional
  • Encouraging the removal of plastic from members’ daily use as part of ongoing Planet projects
  • Helping eliminate violence against women

Cannock & District

  • Rotary Books4Home – providing gifts of books for children who don’t have them at home – collecting from the community.
  • Environmental projects e.g. meat & fish free days, reduction of packaging and litter picking, learning about local refuse plants
  • Women’s Safety on the Streets – questionnaire with local residents to inform future planning
  • West Hill Readers – group go into this primary school on a weekly basis for reading sessions with children in Y1, Y2 and Y3
  • Support for a local food bank and for Staffordshire Women’s Aid and The Pathway Project
  • Attending a local High School to carry out Mock Interviews with Y11 students

Lichfield & District

  • Women’s safety projects including Healthy Relationships training for young men & women via sports and social clubs
  • Community Gardening Projects and Litter Picking across our district
  • Sewing Bee creating dresses, jumpers/vests, school bags, sanitary protection and Days For Girls Packs in UK and internationally
  • Orange Day Cafes promoting Soroptimism and highlighting Women’s Safety issues
  • Raising funds for the Eve Appeal and Breast Cancer Now; Les Amis Burkina Faso and other charities
  • Support for local Afghan and Ukrainian refugees

Stafford

  • Toilet Twinning – achieved Toilet Twin Status for Stafford with Certificate presented to the Mayor of Stafford in March 2023
  • Support for HMP Drake Hall in the Visitor Centre (3 days/week); provision of materials & wool for craft sessions; provision of Distraction Packs for mentally distressed prisoners; support for the Angel Tree – Christmas gifts for children of prisoners
  • Microfinancing account via Lend with Care set up and actively investing/reinvesting in projects benefitting women & girls
  • Orange the World – target to raise awareness on 25th of each month
  • 400+ good quality bras collected to send to Uganda (ongoing)
  • Support for CRADLE – items for gift bags

Sutton Coldfield

  • Working with the Purple Community Fund in the Philippines
  • Cancer Support Coffee Morning
  • Support for our local food bank
  • Support for our local Domestic Violence Unit

Tamworth

  • Staffing a telephone support line providing a weekly befriending call for local people experiencing loneliness
  • Socially-distanced tea party to raise money for Club charities
  • Donation to Tamworth Self Isolate Support Group for food
  • Helping Handbags  an ongoing project and also donating toiletries to The Tamworth Hygiene Bank
  • Collection of good quality bras for Smalls for All
  • Collection and delivery of used teabags for a South African craft project

Wolverhampton

  • Covid-19: Sewing scrub bags and shoe bags for NHS staff and knitting bereavement hearts

The Wrekin

  • Attending local eco fairs to promote reconnection with the environment, activities aimed at children and families
  • Fast Fashion Project
  • Covid-19: Knitting bereavement hearts
  • Covid-19: Virtual Balloon Race Fundraiser
  • Covid-19: Supporting women who are suffering from or at risk of domestic violence – using social media and local radio & TV to signpost victims to services and creating a Phone a Friend Scheme
