In the years 2017 to 2019, the two SI Yorkshire Presidents, Chris Clark and Pat Kilbane, had a theme for the Region’s Programme Action, “The Power of a Second Chance’. SI Scarborough members decided to compile a fund raising booklet called, ‘The Power of a Second Chance’. The booklet would contain real life, inspiring stories from members, not only from SI Scarborough, but the whole SI Yorkshire Region.
Entries were read by all the club members before the booklet was edited by a smaller group of members. The booklet is priced at £2.50p and was sold as Regional Council Meetings and on SI Scarborough Information Tables at various events. Several hundreds of pounds have been raised for the SI Scarborough Charities.
Copies of the booklet were sent out to various media outlets and the club were delighted to receive congratulatory note and photo from the ITV morning presenter, Lorraine Kelly.
At the delayed Mary Hilary Awards for Programme Action at a 2022 Regional Council meeting (RCM), the club received a Commendation Award for the booklet.
