On this page we will describe steps taken by members for the advancement of health and saving lives. This will correspond to SIGBI’s Charitable Objectives Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

Helping the World to see!

First photo shows 32 used spectacles, part of 96, collected by SI Hamilton members from 9 10 2025 till 12 03 026. The used spectacles are for use in the developing world.

“Right to Sight” Project:

Used spectacles are given to Mackie Opticians, 48 Main Street, Bothwell 671 8EX, for use in eye camps in Cambodia and India.  Before being sent abroad, the used spectacles are sent to HMP Barlinnie’s “Right to Sight” Project. Specially trained prisoners sort and grade the spectacles. The used spectacles  are then sent abroad in advance of the eye camps.

Fundraiser for children & young people with cancer!

Second & Third photos were taken at SI Kirkcaldy fundraiser for Team Jak Foundation- Jak’s Den at St Bryce Kirk, 24 04 2026.  SI Kirkcaldy President Maureen is seen in both photos.  Glenrothes Rock Choir provided entertainment.

Fundraising for SCAA!

Fourth photo shows SI Falkirk members at Murrayfield which had been taken over by Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, (SCAA), for the day, 16 05 2026.  SCA A will be SI Falkirk’s chosen charity this year.
