Monday Afternooners Quiz and Tea Party

Club member Ann HInes explains about the group –

Monday Afternooners is a club for adults with physical disabilities, mainly Cerebral Palsy.  It was set up originally by Bromley Scope, but some years ago was included in Bromley Mencap as a much larger organisation. They could offer MA members access to more services.

The club meets monthly on the last Monday of the month.  They go on outings, meals out, and speakers or entertainment on the Mondays.  They always meet for outings or use a room at the care home Durham House in Bromley.  One of the members lives in this home, others independently or with their families.

The club run by Sue Fuller, who works for Bromley Mencap, arranges transport through Bromley council, and relies on volunteers for driving mini buses and supporting members on the visits.
A winter meeting is usually a quiz followed by an afternoon tea.  Helpers and club members all take part in the quiz and The Soroptimist’s prepare and serve the cream tea.  It is always an enjoyable occasion much appreciated by the members and helpers alike. This club lets disabled adults socialise with friends that have similar problems, get to know the volunteers.  But mainly have a bit of fun at least once a month. The club is subsidised by Bromley council and donations, members pay for their food on outings and a small amount towards transport.
