The club met in April for its sixth AGM as SI Solent East, but what would have been the 50th anniversary since the founding of SI Gosport, Fareham and District in May 1974. To mark the occasion we took a group photo, which we planned to send to our Friendship Link SI Carolina Uppsala who celebrated their 50th a few weeks before ours. However, we ended up sending them a virtual card with party balloons instead!
We are now in full swing of celebrating our own anniversary by nominating 50 charities for a donation of £50 from the Charles Jacob Charitable Trust. Each day, for the 50 days from our charter on 4 May, we are putting up a Facebook post about one of our nominated charities, in a random order. We hope that our donation of £50 is useful to the charity for work in the local area, and supports the aim of the Trust to help the disadvantaged.
